Codex setup

Codex can make phone calls. Two commands.

Add the JooVoice plugin and Codex calls restaurants, clinics and shops for you, in their language. Two commands in your terminal, then one approval.

  1. 1

    Add the plugin

Run these two commands in your terminal. The first adds JooVoice’s plugin list, the second installs it.

  2. 2

    Sign in and approve

Codex opens JooVoice. Sign in or sign up, approve the connection, and choose how calls get approved.

  3. 3

    Ask for a call

Mention @JooVoice and say what you need. New accounts get a short welcome call first, so you hear the voice that will call for you.

Approving calls

Every call spends credits. You choose who says yes.

You pick one of these when you approve the connection. You can change it later on JooVoice.

  • YOLO

    Let Codex decide

Codex goes ahead on its own, within a monthly limit you set.

  • In your chat

    Codex asks you

Codex shows you each call and its price, and you say yes.

  • On JooVoice

    Approve by link

Each call sends you a link to approve on JooVoice.

Ask for a call

Say it in your own words. It asks for what’s missing.

Who to call, what for, and when. If the other side will need something you didn’t say, like what works if they’re full, JooVoice asks before it dials. The result comes back to your chat, with the recording and the transcript.

Try this in Codex

@JooVoice book a table for two at Mia this Friday at 7:30pm under my name. If it’s full, anything from 7 to 8:30 works.

Questions

About Codex and JooVoice.

Plugin source: github.com/JooCorp/joovoice-plugin. MCP server: https://app.joovoice.com/mcp.

Can Codex make phone calls?

Yes, with the JooVoice plugin. Add it with two commands, sign in to JooVoice and approve the connection. Then ask Codex to call, and JooVoice places the call and brings the result back to your chat. You don’t need a phone number, a Twilio account or a voice setup.

What does the plugin add?

A connection to JooVoice’s MCP server (https://app.joovoice.com/mcp) and the instructions Codex needs to prepare a call, ask you what’s missing and report back. You sign in and approve the connection yourself; Codex never sees your password.

What does a call cost?

Calls are paid in credits at $1.50 each. A standard call is 1 credit and includes 5 minutes. Your first call is $1. There’s no subscription, and credits last 12 months.

What is YOLO?

One of the three ways to approve calls. With it on, Codex can approve calls by itself, up to a monthly limit you choose. Otherwise Codex asks you in the chat, or JooVoice sends you a link for each call. Only you can turn YOLO on or change the limit.

Can I hear a call first?

Yes. New accounts get a short free welcome call to your own phone, so you hear the voice that will call for you. You can also hear a real call on the Grok Bot page, and demo calls for dozens of jobs at joovoice.com/calls.

What can’t it do?

It makes outbound calls only: it doesn’t answer calls or act as a receptionist. It won’t cold call or sell, and it won’t pretend to be you or pass an identity check as you.

I use a different agent.

Any agent that can add an MCP server can use JooVoice: point it at https://app.joovoice.com/mcp. Or paste joovoice.com into the chat and it walks you through it.

Your next call is one sentence away. Two commands first.

Your first call is $1. No subscription.
